Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller to headline huge Bristol festival

Noel's heading south...

Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller have been announced among the main acts for this year’s Downs Festival in Bristol.

The festival takes place on September 1, and will see Gallagher taking top billing – with a support slot coming straight from the Modfather himself.

Other acts scheduled for the main stage include NME 100 stars Dream Wife.

Elsewhere, the festival’s second stage will hosts appearances from electro pioneers Orbital, a DJ set from Basement Jaxx and a live performance from Goldie.

Co-founder Conal Dodds said: “We know there’ll be a huge amount of interest in seeing Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller live in Bristol. Noel has never headlined a show in Bristol so we are really excited to bring him and his band to the city and I think we’ve got the best line up we’ve had so far at The Downs.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday and you can buy them here.

Gallagher previously revealed that he would love to play some shows with Big Shaq.

Speaking to NME at the BRIT Awards 2018, Shaq said that he’s very much up for it.

“Noel Gallagher, he’s a legend,” Shaq told NME.

“One legend’s approval of what you’re doing is nice – but you know, let’s wait and see what’s going to happen.”

Asked about the likelihood of the pair working together, he replied: “Who knows? Who bloody knows mate?”
