Lorde has shared a new portrait of herself by the same artist that painted the ‘Melodrama’ cover art.
The New Zealand star used a painting by artist Sam McKinniss as the artwork for her latest album ‘Melodrama’, which was NME‘s Album of the Year for 2017.
The singer has now taken to social media to share another McKinniss portrait, writing: “What a divine honour to see my lips and hair translated by your brush once more”.
“I see myself so clearly in this picture,” Lorde wrote on Instagram, before adding on Twitter: “When Sam paints me I see myself in sharp focus, emotions fully crystallised.”
“When this photo was taken I was fragile, anxious; feeling raw and exposed in my practice, newly 21 and looking for a sign. I see all that and more here. Thankyou, Sam”.

Last year saw a fan hang a copy of Lorde’s ‘Melodrama’ artwork at the Louvre museum in Paris.
Recently, Lorde covered a Frank Ocean and performed an unreleased track live.
The singer covered Ocean’s ‘Solo’ and played a song written during the ‘Melodrama’ sessions at the first stop of her North American tour in Milwaukee on March 1.
