Pete Wentz celebrates 10 year anniversary of that time Bruno Mars photobombed him

Fall Out Boy star "didn't want you to think I forgot"

Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz has marked the 10 year anniversary of a viral photo that saw Bruno Mars photobomb him.

On April 29, 2008, Wentz was photographed by a member of the paparazzi in Los Angeles, with Mars seen in the background looking surprised.

Celebrating the photo being a decade old, Wentz tweeted this week: “Didn’t want you to think I forgot- can’t believe it’s been ten years.”

Wentz also printed a copy of the photo, changed the date to mark the anniversary, framed it and used it to decorate his hotel room in Singapore.

Last year, Bruno Mars explained the story behind the photo, saying: “I’m having lunch in Los Angeles and all of a sudden, like six cars stop in the middle of street… One paparazzi guy comes running and basically pushes me with his elbow and goes, ‘Get the fuck out of the way’. I look behind me and he’s trying to take a picture of who I now know is Pete Wentz.”

“I was actually looking at the photographer like, ‘What just happened?’. I’m in disbelief because I thought something terrible was going to happen the way these cars were acting. They had the whole street on lock. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Mars went on to say that he later met Wentz and that the Fall Out Boy star was “a nice guy”.

Fall Out Boy released their latest album ‘MANIA’ in January.

In a three-star review, NME wrote: “There’s no ‘Dance, Dance’ or ‘Thnks Fr Th Mmrs’ in here, but there doesn’t need to be. The musical landscape has changed since Fall Out Boy’s Warped Tour days in the mid-’00s, and so have they. As ‘Mania’ shows, it’s probably for the best.”
