Paul Weller celebrates his 60th birthday with the release of new track ‘Aspects’

It could mark the direction of the new album

Paul Weller turns 60 today (May 25) and to celebrate his birthday, he’s treated fans to the release of new track ‘Aspects’.

It’s a reflective, acoustic effort that’s reportedly influenced by Nick Drake. It’s also said to be included on Wellers’ forthcoming 14th album, ‘True Meanings,’ released later this year.

“I don’t know if it’s indicative of the album, but it’s certainly the cornerstone to the record for me. It’s also where I got the title of the album from…” Weller said in a statement.

Earlier this year, Liam Gallagher dubbed The Jam star “full of shit” after Weller spoke of his admiration for Noel Gallagher.

Weller has a longstanding relationship with Liam’s estranged brother Noel and Liam has previously accused them of having ‘secret meetings‘ leading up to the split of Oasis.

Taking to Twitter, Liam wrote: “Weller’s full of shit as well. Porcelain mod father – can’t wait to bump him.”

One fan then asked Liam if he would be changing the name of his clothing label Pretty Green – named after a song by Weller’s iconic band The Jam – Liam replied: “He don’t own the word pretty and he don’t own the word green.”

It’s not the first time that Liam has hit out at Weller. Previously, he slammed Weller’s middling response to his solo material, claiming “I’ve never been one of his little bitches”.
