Will Smith continues to prank Jaden Smith with new ‘Icon’ verse

He previously made a parody video of his son's song. Now, he's added a whole verse

Will Smith has released his own version of ‘Icon’, adding his own verse to his son’s song

Poking fun at Jaden Smith, he raps “boy you know why you is an icon living? You was born from an icon living.” Sharing short clips from his previous parody version of the music video, the new clip starts with Will Smith learning Spanish with collaborator Nicky Jam, who also appears on the original song with Jaden Smith.

Back in February, Will Smith also made a parody video for ‘Icon’, dying his hair gold and emulating Jaden’s outfit choices.

He is billing his new update – which includes an entire guest verse – as a reggaeton remix.

Will Smith teamed up with Nicky Jam last month for the official World Cup song, along with Diplo and Kosovo singer Era Istref.

Jaden Smith released his latest album ‘SYRE’ back in November 2017. His father Will Smith released his parody video to celebrate the album reaching 100 million streams on Spotify. “Congrats on 100,000,000 @Spotify streams, Jaden!” Will Smith wrote on Instagram. “It is a Delicious Gift to a Parent to Admire his children. Keep Doin’ You!”

Outside of pranking his children, Will Smith is also mounting his own musical comeback. Last month he shared a new behind-the-scenes video which shows him rapping about marrying Rihanna, and his time on Fresh Prince.

In 2015, Smith told Billboard, “I have a bunch of songs. I don’t know if I’ll do an album. I‘m looking for a really clever and creative way to release the music.”

“There’s nothing that compares to being onstage with a hit record. Those first couple of seconds when people recognise the song and it’s the one they’ve been waiting for – there’s nothing in entertainment that matches that feeling.”
