Vampire Weekend debut new songs at their first full shows in four years

Introducing 'Flower Moon'

Vampire Weekend have made their first full live return in four years, debuting new material and a new live line-up.

The New York band performed a pair of shows in Ojai, California, with the first seeing them performing their 2008 debut album in full.

They also brought out rapper iLoveMakonnen – who briefly joined the group to perform his tracks ‘Tuesday’ and ‘Down 4 So Long’.

But it was the second show that offered a teasing glimpse at the band’s future, as they debuted new track ‘Flower Moon’.

Footage of the performance has since emerged online, with singer Ezra Koenig reportedly confirming that the track features an appearance from The Internet’s Steve Lacy.

And after Rostam Batmanglij left the group in 2016, the new-look Vampire Weekend saw Springtime Carnivore’s Greta Morgan on keys and Brian Robert Jones from Human Natural on guitar.

Although solid details of a fourth Vampire Weekend album are yet to emerge, the band have a full summer of live dates planned – including a headline slot at Dorset’s End Of The Road festival in September.

Last month, they claimed that the record is “94.5 percent” completed.

Responding on Instagram to a fan’s request for a percentage update on the new album, they said “94.5%”.

It’s also been confirmed that Rostam Batmanglij will appear on the next record, despite quitting as a touring member.
