Watch Paramore bring out ‘Stranger Things” Gaten Matarazzo at Brooklyn show

Hayley Williams previously invited the actor to join the band onstage after seeing him cover 'Misery Business'

Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo joined Paramore onstage at their Brooklyn show last night (June 26).

Frontwoman Hayley Williams had previously extended an “open invite” to the young actor to join the group onstage after seeing a video of his band Work In Progress covering ‘Misery Business’.

Last night, Paramore headlined Barclays Center in Brooklyn and surprised the audience by bringing Matarazzo and his siblings Sabrina and Carmen out to play the 2007 track with them. Midway through the song, Williams told the audience: “We’re going to introduce you to some friends of ours. Everybody, give it up for Gaten and his band Work In Progress. These guys covered ‘Misery Business’ and we saw it, and we thought ‘You’ve gotta come do it with us in Brooklyn.’ Do you mind?”

“Thank you so much for letting us jam out with you guys!!” Matarazzo tweeted later, alongside a video of the performance. Watch it and more fan-shot footage above and below now.

Yesterday, Paramore announced a special one-off concert in their hometown of Nashville, whose aim is to celebrate the city’s music scene. The band will headline the event at the Municipal Auditorium on September 7, where they will be joined by the likes of Bully, COIN, Canon Blue, Liza Anna, and Nightingail.

In a press release, Williams said: “We want to celebrate our hometown and the fast growing, wacky and wonderful alternative music and arts community of Nashville. We want to show you what our fine city has to offer, outside of bachelorette parties and karaoke bars…Take it from a group of kids who grew up right here in this city – the new Nashville is definitely alright with us. We’re excited to give everyone a chance to experience Nashville the way we do.”

The band also shared the new video for ‘Caught In The Middle’, which sees the trio evading giant fruit while playing illustrated instruments.
