Brie Larson responds to sexist ‘Captain Marvel’ critics

Epic.

Brie Larson has offered her own brilliant response, after the first trailer for Captain Marvel attracted sexist critics.

The first offering of Larson’s superhero epic debuted earlier this week – and it provides fans with a epic idea of what to expect from the titular hero.

But amid the positivity, a few dissenting voices claimed that Larson needed to smile more – despite the trailer being a largely tense and action-packed affair.

In response, Larson has shared some inspired fan art that shows iconic Marvel characters with digitally altered smiles, to prove how ridiculous it is.

Posting on an Instagram story, she shared one photo that shows Tony Stark with a creepy grin, along with similarly strange looks from Captain America and Dr Strange.

Upon release earlier this week, the trailer confirmed it’s taking the MCU back to the past.

Set decades before The Avengers first assembled, the film follows Carol Danvers as she finds herself in the middle of a massive intergalactic conflict in the 1990s.
An official synopsis teases: “The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
