Watch Iggy Pop, Josh Homme and Matt Helders reunite as Post Pop Depression band

They got a 'Lust For Life'

This weekend saw Iggy Pop reunite with Josh Homme and Arctic Monkeys‘ Matt Helders for ‘Post Pop Depression’ show at Cal Jam 2018. See footage and the setlist below.

Consisting of Iggy, Homme, Helders and Queens of the Stone Age‘s Dean Fertita, the band worked together on the punk veteran’s acclaimed 2016 album ‘Post Pop Depression’, before a subsequent world tour featuring live members Matt Sweeney and Troy Van Leeuwen.

The band hadn’t played together since 2016, but this weekend they returned at the request of Foo Fighters to perform at their own Cal Jam Festival. Alongside ‘Post Pop Depression’ album tracks, the band also worked in Iggy fan favourites including ‘Lust For Life’, ‘Sister Midnight’, Funtime’ , ‘The Passenger’ and ‘China Girl’.

While this year saw Iggy Pop drop the collaborative EP ‘Teatime Dub Encounters’ with Underworld, it remains to be seen if the ‘Post Pop Depression’ band could record together again.

“Iggy is the single greatest example of a frontman that you could have for rock & roll,” said Homme in 2016. “You can say, ‘Oh, I like this person’s voice better,’ or, ‘I like that person’s songs better,’ but you can’t find someone who’s more rock & roll and more honest and daring and more at the tip of the spear – ahead of his time by 30 years – than Iggy.

“Working with him just recharged my faith in rock & roll and in trying to blaze your own path at whatever cost that is.”
