Nirvana fans call for reunion tour after comeback performance at CalJam festival

A good idea?

Nirvana fans are calling on the band to head out on a reunion tour, after stunning fans with a comeback performance last weekend.

During the final night of Cal Jam, the surviving members of the legendary band reunited on stage. It marked the second time they have performed together since Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994.

Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic ran through six tracks – with Joan Jett and Deer Tick’s John McCauley performing with the band. The same line-up performed in 2014, after Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Now, the apparent success of their comeback has meant that fans are calling for it to become a little more permanent.

Another suggested: “Nirvana reunion tonight with Joan Jett on vocals! Hopefully there’s a tour in the works.”

The performance came after Dave Grohl and co. tweeted cryptic hints suggesting that a comeback show could be on the cards. “What else could we have up our sleeves???” Stay tuned….” they posted ahead of the event.

The Foos also shared footage of Nirvana’s one-off 2014 performance, which was then retweeted by Nirvana’s official account.

Ahead of the reunion, last month saw Dave Grohl play Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom’ for only the second time since Kurt Cobain’s death. The musician took to the stage to drum along to the seminal ‘Nevermind’ single with Trombone Shorty at Los Angeles’ Voodoo Threauxdown Festival.
