Kanye West returns to Twitter with a rant about mind control

The rapper has returned to social media once more

Kanye West returned to Twitter on Saturday (13 October) to post a lengthy video in which he discusses mind control and the “poison” of social media.

Last week, he deleted both his Twitter and Instagram accounts, but yesterday shared two short videos, a soundbite and then a ten-minute video in which he discussed mind control.

You can watch the clip via West’s Twitter below.

Speaking directly to the camera, West said, “I just wanna talk about mind control. You know when people try to influence you through social media and try to tell you what to do, or if people post something that’s positive on Instagram it gets taken down if it’s not part of a bigger agenda. That’s, like, mind control…That’s the poison that’s happening with social media.”

He continued: “I feel like when people try to tell me what to do, they’re touching my brain… If someone tries to tell me what I can do, what I can wear, I feel like they’re touching my brain.”

West then hit out at social media and it’s potential influence.

He said: “Social media is a lie. Social media told you Hillary Clinton was going to win, and she didn’t win. Social media told you nobody likes me, but everybody loves me. Everybody loves Ye.”

He added, “Unprogram your minds. Open your heart. Let your conscience be free.”

The outburst comes just days after West met Donald Trump at the White House, where he gave a ten minute speech during a public sit down with the president.

Sporting a red “Make America Great Again” cap, the rapper sat down in a televised discussion with Trump and the former NFL player Jim Brown in the Oval Office of The White House. The meeting took place prior to a working lunch which was set to focus on such topics as urban revitalisation, new workforce training programs and more.

“Let’s stop worrying about the future, all we have is today,” West said, before elaborating on his support for the current President. “Trump is on his hero’s journey right now. He might not have thought he’d have a crazy motherfucker like me [supporting him].”

West also addressed such topics as the stop-and-frisk policing policies in Chicago, possible clemency for the incarcerated Larry Hoover (who West called “a living statue”) and manufacturing.

He also claimed that he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder in the past year, saying that he had instead only been sleep deprived.

After he finished speaking, Trump remarked: “That was quite something.” West replied: “It was from the soul. I just channelled it.” He then hugged the President, saying: “I love this guy right here.”

Axl Rose responded to Kanye’s visit, calling it a “joke”, while T.I branded the meeting “repulsive.”
