The Spice Girls didn’t actually ask Posh if she wanted to join the reunion tour

Awkward...

The Spice Girls have revealed that they didn’t actually ask Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, to join them on the 2019 reunion tour.

Mel B, Mel C, Geri Horner (formerly Halliwell) and Emma Bunton recently announced that the 1990s pop group are reuniting for a string of UK stadium shows next summer. News that Adele is very excited about.

The group, without Posh, filmed their first comeback interview for The Jonathan Ross Show, that will air this Saturday (November 10).

But while the original members are still in touch, it appears that no one actually asked Beckham if she would like to join them.

“Do you know what is actually quite funny?,” said Mel C.

“I saw Victoria recently and obviously we’ve all been in contact.

“She is still very much a part of the Spice Girls, she really supports us and we really support her.

“But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked. We just presumed.”

Geri jumped in to add: “I spoke to her two days ago, before the announcement and she has said it for years that she just doesn’t want to do it anymore, so we knew that.”

Later, Emma Bunton claims that they did in fact approach Victoria. Yet Geri was quick to counter that “she was busy with her fashion and she’s moved on”.

The remaining members also confirmed that Beckham did not enjoy performing live. Emma admitted: “We realised that a while back, that she didn’t enjoy that so much” with Geri adding that “you don’t want to make somebody do something they don’t want to do.”
