Skrillex ordered to pay fan $1.6M in compensation following injury at gig

Ouch

DJ Skrillex has been ordered to pay a fan over $1.6M in compensation by a jury following an injury at a gig.

According to TMZ, the damages follow an injury lawsuit made by Jennifer Fraissl who sued the DJ in February 2014. Fraissl claimed that she suffered a stroke after the DJ stage-dived on top of her during a performance at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles.

In total, the jury awarded Fraissl $4,525,402 in compensation, with Skrillex deemed responsible for 35% of the damages. The rest of the damages were split between the DJ’s touring company, ‘Lost Boys’ and the venue. Fraissl was also deemed partly responsible – 15% – for the incident.

Speaking to TMZ, Skrillex said: “There is nothing more important to me me than my fans and their safety at my shows – I want them to have fun and enjoy the music.”

The DJ’s lawyer, Barry Thompson, said the evidence included “video proof that [Skrillex] never made physical contact with Ms. Fraissl.” He added that they are making a decision about an appeal soon.

Recently, the EDM DJ and producer was the latest artist to release a posthumous collaboration with the late XXXTentacion and Lil Pump on track ‘Arms Around You.’

Skrillex shared a snippet of the track on his Instagram last month (October 24) , with the now-deleted post featuring the hashtag #LLJ, which is thought to mean “Long Live Jahseh”. XXXTentacion’s real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy.

Earlier this year, the DJ also shared a new song from his emo band From First To Last. The track ‘Surrender’ was co-written, co-produced and featured the dance artist on vocals.
