Arrested Cannibal Corpse guitarist reportedly had military-style flamethrowers and was warning of the rapture

Things are getting stranger and stranger

Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O’Brien was reportedly said to be in possession of military-style flamethrowers and ‘warning of the rapture’ when he was arrested this week on bizarre assault charges while his house was on fire.

Bail was set at $50,000 when O’Brien was arrested for burglary and assault, after allegedly entering a neighbour’s home in Northdale, Florida, and shoving her to the floor. It’s claimed that, while the incident took place, O’Brien’s home was burning down with explosive devices inside. He later appeared in court while wearing a suicide vest.

Now, WFTS report that “military-style flamethrowers” were found inside O’Brien’s home and that surrounding houses were evacuated as a precaution.

The owner of the house that O’Brien allegedly broke into claimed that O’Brien was hallucinating, hid in the closet, and spoke to the oncoming rapture and that someone was after him.

During his appearance at Hillsborough County Court, filmed by local TV station WFLA, O’Brien wore an anti-suicide vest and was shackled to court deputies.

This week also saw Cannibal Corpse announced as the support band on Slayer‘s farewell tour in the US in May. The veteran death metal band are also due to co-headline a Decibel magazine tour with Morbid Angel from February 17-March 17. It’s not yet clear how O’Brien’s arrest will affect the shows.
