Ja Rule has apologised to a Fyre Festival restaurant worker who has received thousands in donations after losing her life savings due to the shambolic event.
Earlier this week, a documentary telling the story of the doomed ‘luxury’ festival landed on Netflix. The in-depth film, FYRE, focuses on the event’s co-founder Billy McFarland who in October was imprisoned for multiple counts of fraud.
During the film, Bahamian restaurant worker Maryann Rolle explains how she lost $50,000 (£39,000) due to McFarland not paying her staff. Just days after its release, a GoFundMe page – set up by herself and husband Elvis – has exceeded its target of $123,000 (£95,500) and currently stands at $162,965 (£126,000).
Fyre co-founder Ja Rule has now apologised to Rolle for his involvement, saying that he is “devastated” by how the festival impacted her and other workers. Check out the post below.

Over the weekend, Ja Rule hit out at viewers of FYRE and Hulu’s Fyre Fraud for placing blame for the ‘luxury’ festival on him.
“I love how ppl watch a doc and think they have all the answers,” he tweeted. A follow-up tweet read: “I had an amazing vision to create a festival like NO OTHER!!! I would NEVER SCAM or FRAUD anyone what sense does that make???”
