Sleeper have shared the official video for their comeback track ‘Look At You Now’ – tune in below.
The single was released in December and marked the Louise Wener-fronted band’s first new material in 21 years. ‘Look At You Now’ is the first song to be lifted from the group’s upcoming fourth album, ‘The Modern Age’, which is set to arrive on March 22.
Now, ahead of a string of live dates beginning next month, the band have shared the song’s accompanying ’50s and ’60s-inspired visuals.
The video stitches together various old film clips while displaying the song’s lyrics – “Can you trust the future?” and “Lord forgive me” – with other slogans offered as ‘A Guide To Modern Living’.
Describing the track and inspiration behind its video, the band said: “It’s a song about feeling disenfranchised. Politics, on every side, is pushing to the extremes, ideas we thought we’d left behind in the 20th century.
“When we were putting together the artwork for our new album we got really into film footage from the 1950s and 60s: political rallies, crap B movies, and public information films.

“We wanted to use the chaos of those images to show our political landscape in the midst of a nervous breakdown.”
They added: “If there’s a message it’s this: Choose reason and debate over dogma, otherwise we might all be a bit fucked.”
In addition to the video, Sleeper have also announced a handful of in-store shows in the lead up to their new LP.
The first record shop gig will be held at Kingston’s New Slang on March 13, before the group head to Brighton’s Acoustic and London’s Rough Trade East. Check out the schedule below.
