The Strokes have been announced for another huge festival this summer, with the band set to appear as headliners at Lollapalooza Paris.

Taking place July 20-21, the French capital bash will also see ‘Trench’ duo Twenty One Pilots take a main stage top spot.

Julian Casablancas and co’s appearance will form part of their ‘global comeback’ for 2019, with the band previously announcing appearances at Bilbao BBK Festival and Doctor Music in Spain. In June, they’ll play a homecoming show at New York’s Governors Ball.

Further European and world festival dates for the NYC indie icons are expected to be announced in the weeks and months ahead.

Meanwhile, despite having never made an appearance at Glastonbury, The Strokes are among rumoured acts to descend on Worthy Farm this year.

Although UK dates are yet to emerge, Strokes fans were fooled into thinking that they had confirmed a secret London gig last year. In July, a tweet from music venue Dingwalls announced a performance of a “very special one-off show” from ‘Venison’ in the traditional logo style of The Strokes.

Discussing the hoax, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr later told NME: “I didn’t feel the need to respond. It felt more exciting for it to be its own story. I remember reading tweets and someone said ‘my daughter went and took the train’. I didn’t respond – if I was a teenager and I did that it would feel like a fun journey, a part of life.”

The Strokes’ last studio album, ‘Comedown Machine‘, was released in 2013.
