The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr is in the studio with Natalie Imbruglia

The pair posted photos from the studio this week

Albert Hammond Jr has confirmed he is working on new songs with Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia.

Both Hammond and Imbruglia confirmed the collaboration this week by sharing snaps from Rockinghorse studios in Byron Bay. The pair also thanked producer Gus Oberg – who produced The Strokes’ album ‘Angles’  – for working on the tracks with them.

It’s not currently known when the songs will be released, but Imbruglia shared an Instagram in November stating she was expecting to release new music – her first since 2015’s cover album ‘Male’ – in 2019.

Hammond’s fourth solo album – ‘Francis Trouble’ – was released in March last year and 2019 is set to be a huge year for The Strokes. The band have been announced as headliners for a string of festivals this summer, including Victoria Park’s All Points East and Governor’s Ball in New York as well as Doctor Music Festival and Bilbao BBK in Spain.

The band announced the shows as part of their “global comeback” in 2019.

Last year, Imbruglia celebrated the 21st anniversary of her debut single, ‘Torn’, which shot the Neighbours actor to global fame. The track sold over a million copies in the UK alone.

But recently, fans couldn’t handle the news that the hit 90s song is in fact a cover. With the story being that LA alt-rock bank Ednaswap first wrote the song in 1993 before a Danish called Lis Sørensen recorded it in Danish.
