Slipknot’s Corey Taylor says Imagine Dragons have replaced Nickelback as the world’s most hated band

"They're awful, so that's cool,"

It’s time for Nickelback to breath a sigh of relief – they’re no longer the world’s most hated band.

That’s according to Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, who says that Las Vegas rockers Imagine Dragons have now taken over as rock’s favourite whipping boy.

Appearing on Tuesday’s Jonesy’s Jukebox, a radio show hosted by Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, Taylor said he loves that Nickelback are “passing the baton” after years of widespread ridicule.

“They’re awful, so that’s cool,” Taylor said of Imagine Dragons.

“And they’re from Vegas, so I’m gonna go home to protests. Can’t show my face in this town now. Yeah, people are slowly coming back to appreciate Nickelback and then just turning their irksome ire toward Imagine Dragons.”

Taylor’s dig at Nickelback comes after a lengthy feud with frontman Chad Kroeger that dates back over 15 years.

In 2002, Taylor described Chad as “Shaggy from Scooby-Doo” and described the rest of Nickelback as “fucking pretty boys.”

Kroeger, meanwhile, described Taylor’s side-project Stone Sour as “Nickelback lite” and famously said of Slipknot, “How good can your music be if you’ve got to beat each other up onstage, throw up in your own masks every night?”

At the time of writing, neither Nickelback or Imagine Dragons have responded to Taylor’s latest comments.
