Dave beats Foals to Number One in extremely tight UK album chart battle

Plus there are high new entries for Sigrid and Paul Weller

Dave has beaten Foals to this week’s UK Number One album in an extremely tight chart battle.

The London rapper’s debut studio album ‘Psychodrama’ was at Number 5 in the midweek charts but it fought its way to the summit with 26,390 combined sales, including 23.6 million track streams, making up 79 per cent of its total figure.

It means Foals settle for second place with their new album ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Pt 1’, which finished just 279 combined sales behind, according to The Official Charts Company.

Despite that, their new LP is the best-selling vinyl of the week and takes the top spot on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.

Dido meanwhile, went in at Number Three with her fifth studio album and first in six years ‘Still On My Mind’, while Sigrid went in at Number Four with her debut ‘Sucker Punch’. Paul Weller’s new live album ‘Other Aspects – Live At The Royal Albert Hall’ also shot in at Number 10.

In the UK singles chart, Lewis Capaldi extended his reign at Number One for a third week with ‘Someone You Loved’ after racking up nearly 7 million streams this week.

Dave also takes the three highest new entries this week in the singles chart with ‘Disaster’ ft. J Hus at Number Eight, ‘Streatham’ at Nine and ‘Location’ ft. Burna Boy at 11.

The rapper achieved a Number One single back in October 2018 when ‘Funky Friday’ ft. Fredo debuted at the top of the charts.
