The Red Hot Chili Peppers covered Radiohead’s ‘Pyramid Song’ as they played a special concert Pyramids of Giza tonight (March 15).
The band covered the famous single during a 20 song set – which you can watch below – as guitarist Josh Klinghoffer marked the historic occasion by performing a solo piano version of the track. They announced the show earlier this week and streamed the show live earlier.
The performance included a host of hits from their back catalogue including ‘Californication’, ‘Under The Bridge’ and ‘By The Way’.

The Chilis also performed a cover of The Stooges’ ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ and Steve Wonder’s ‘Higher Ground’ during the set.
They join Sting, Mariah Carey, Shakira, and Frank Sinatra in the list of acts that have previously performed at the Pyramids.
Bassist Flea said in a statement ahead of the performance: “Before each new place my body tingled with excitement, a yearning for a new mystery to unfold, a fascination with a new culture, the possibility of new friends, tasting new food, smelling new tastes, absorbing new rhythms.

He continued: “The pyramids, it’s unbelievable, we just jumped at the opportunity… I have always been fascinated by Egypt and that region of the world and I am so excited to go.”

The Los Angeles band are currently working on the follow-up to their 2016 LP ‘The Getaway’, which was their eleventh studio album.
Drummer Chad Smith recently spoke about the progress on his band’s new material, revealing that their plans to write and record were adversely affected by the devastating Woolsey Fire which spread through southern California in late 2018, killing four people and destroying scores of properties and homes.
