Justin Bieber performed with Ariana Grande during her final headline Coachella set on Sunday (April 21) for his first public stage appearance in two years.

Despite saying there would be no guests joining her for her closing show, Grande surprised fans by duetting with Bieber for his 2015 hit, ‘Sorry’.

Speaking to the audience about the so-called ‘unplanned’ appearance, which happened between Grande’s ‘Break Free’ and her penultimate track, ‘No Tears Left to Cry’, Bieber said: “I haven’t been on stage in like two years. I came out here, no idea I was gonna be on stage tonight.

“I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was gonna be on stage. I had to get my groove back, get my swag back.”

He then thanked Grande and the festival: “Thank you Coachella, thank you to Ariana Grande. She’s so amazing by the way, she’s so awesome.”

Bieber, who has been taking a break from music to focus on his relationships and mental health, added that his next album is “coming soon.” Bieber’s last record was 2015’s ‘Purpose’, which he last toured worldwide in 2017.
