Funeral For A Friend add third charity show due to popular demand

The news comes after announcing they would reform to raise money for the family of one of their biggest fans

After previously announcing that they would be reforming for two special charity shows, Funeral For A Friend have now added a third date due to popular demand.

The Welsh metallers revealed last week (August 5) that they would be playing two shows in October to raise money for one of the band’s biggest fans, Stuart Brothers, who has been given “a few short weeks to live by his Doctors,” said to the band.

“Recently, a man who can quite legitimately lay claim to being the world’s biggest FFAF fan (both literally and figuratively!), our friend Stuart ‘Big Stu’ Brothers, has been stricken with a terrible illness which has ultimately led to a terminal prognosis. Last month, Stu was given a few short weeks to live by his Doctors,” the band said in a statement.

“As Stu’s friends, we wanted to do something to help; particularly for his family and three young sons, who are going through unspeakable trauma right now. We discussed the possibility of auctioning off some FFAF memorabilia (which we’ll still do), but it became apparent that the way in which we could best help Stu was to perform some fundraising shows, with the proceeds going directly to his family.”

The concerts will be their first since playing a farewell tour in 2016, which climaxed with two shows at the O2 Forum, London.

Now, the band, whose previously announced Cardiff show was upgraded from the Globe to Y Plas at Cardiff University Students’ Union, will play a second hometown show on October 27. “After this, there will be no further upgrades or shows announced,” the band said in a post on their Facebook page.

Funeral For A Friend will also play a sold out show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on October 29.

The shows will feature guitarist Darran Smith, who left in 2010, and drummer Ryan Richards, who departed in 2012. The core remaining line-up of Matt Davies-Kreye, Kris Coombs-Roberts, Rich Boucher and Gav Burrough will also perform at the shows.
